The Story Behind Dreamers & Lovers: 13 Years of Soulful Boho Wedding Dresses

She didn’t set out to build a bridal brand. She just wanted to create dresses that felt like freedom — soulful, effortless, and true.

Over 13 years later, Dreamers & Lovers has quietly become a cult bridal favorite for brides who were never meant to fit in.

“13 years of soulful, made-to-order bridal — because no woman should ever feel like she has to become someone else to feel beautiful.”

The Humble Beginnings

I started Dreamers & Lovers in 2012 after realizing something was missing in the bridal world. Before launching the brand, I managed a Chanel boutique, where I developed a deep appreciation for luxury craftsmanship, impeccable fit, and elevated client service. But I longed to create something different—something soulful and more connected to individuality than tradition.

It began with three dresses I made by hand and listed on Etsy. I didn’t start with bridal in mind. One day, I wore a dress I had dyed blue in my kitchen sink to a wedding at the Neighborhood Church in Palos Verdes. My husband snapped a photo of me in front of the Pacific Ocean, and the blue of the dress matched the sea perfectly. That image went viral after I shared it on Facebook and was picked up by a wedding blog. That single moment shifted everything.

My first bridal order came from Nicole, a bride in La Jolla, San Diego. Back then, I was still wary of internet strangers, so I met the first four brides at a Nordstrom fitting room. But after those first fittings, I knew they were kindred spirits—brides who didn’t want to fit into a mold. That’s when I opened my home studio and began to invite them in.

From the very beginning, I knew Dreamers & Lovers was for the bride who was never meant to fit in.

What Makes Dreamers & Lovers Different

Unlike mass-market bridal brands, everything we do is small-batch and made-to-order. Each dress is handmade in our California studio by a team who cares deeply about beauty, comfort, and meaning.

This direct-to-consumer model isn't just how we operate — it reflects what we believe:

  • No middlemen: Brides work directly with us.
  • Intimate craftsmanship: We use breathable cotton laces and artisan finishing.
  • Personal connection: Our brides become part of a like-hearted community.

Our most iconic design is the Hayley Dress — a flowing, boho lace gown worn by barefoot brides, western brides in cowboy boots, and women who want their wedding day to feel natural, grounded, and unforgettable. The Hayley has become a symbol of freedom — comfortable, feminine, and quietly powerful, just like the women who wear itn.

Building a Brand on Soul, Purpose, and Experience

Over the past 13 years, I’ve been offered opportunities to scale fast, outsource production, or build influencer campaigns. But I always came back to the same truth: I didn’t start Dreamers & Lovers to chase the spotlight. I started it to give women a space to feel seen.

“My mission is sacred: to create a space where women can show up fully and unapologetically as themselves. Because I know what it’s like to be different, I’ve built a brand that naturally attracts brides who don’t want to perform or conform — they want to embrace exactly who they are, in all their beauty and individuality.”

That purpose has guided every decision I’ve made—from how we design, to how we interact with each bride.

Proof of Impact

I measure our success by the messages I get from brides—notes saying they finally felt like themselves on their wedding day. Stories from women who never thought they’d feel beautiful in a wedding dress until they found ours. That’s what this brand has always been about.

We’ve grown steadily over the years, not through ads or hype, but through the genuine joy and word-of-mouth of brides who’ve lived the Dreamers & Lovers experience.

  • Brides who say they felt fully themselves on their wedding day
  • Women who felt seen, celebrated, and valued
