An Intimate and Romantic Boho Wedding Elopement

Our brides are almost always more relaxed, and are usually quite vocal about not wanting all the extra fluff that goes in to a wedding. For this reason, naturally we are seeing that many of our brides-to-be are skipping traditional weddings altogether, and instead choosing to elope. This however does not mean they are looking less beautiful, or sacrificing those styling and details, that makes for the most killer wedding photographs. On a side note…if you are a bride to be, who has become so overwhelmed with the stress and expense of the ‘traditional’ wedding, we ask that you consider not skipping out on the details…super important, because the photos are a part of the memories you will have forever.

We have seen so many well-documented elopements, that we have fallen in love with eloping. Eloping in the sense of just the couple running off to some exotic destination, or eloping with closest friends and family in tow. It never fail that we hear the complaints very often in our fittings, usually the dear mother, who is disappointed that important people will be left out. So, if the situation allows then by all means, we love the idea of eloping with your tightest group of your gang with you. And remember you’re most likely considering an elopement because you are looking to peel away traditions and expectations, so ultimately you have to do what feels right for you and your other half.

One of the major reasons why elopements tug at our heartstrings is the location. In business, location is everything…everything, and we’d say it is the same with elopements…it is everythang!! Emphasis placed on the thang:-) This is the time when you get to choose anywhere you love, that place that is ultra special to you as a couple. We hear from couples frequently who tells us that this place was monumental and a connecting piece of their love story.

This effortlessly stunning couple – Malia and Derrik – chose the most captivating location ever, and it goes perfect with their relaxed bohemian style. We are in awe of the beauty of the White Sands National Monument in New Mexico. Isn’t nature the perfect canvas?

As we look at the photos we can’t help but notice the moments of peace, and intimacy and can only imagine this day was so special to them, and one they’ll remember forever.

This couple decided to elope after they went through their spreadsheet (yes, you read that right, a spreadsheet) and saw the dizzying number of guests they had to invite if they planned a traditional wedding. They knew that a large midwestern wedding was not their vibe, and instead decided to choose a place they have never been. We love that they went with one of our favorite wedding mantras…”if it doesn’t feel right, then throw it out”.

Malia & Derrik’s elopement was captured by the incredibly talented husband & wife photographer team – The Colagrossis. Here are sentiments from the photographers themselves: “These two wanted a place unique, surreal, quiet and elusive. The guidelines for White Sands weddings severely limits decoration – fresh flowers and greens are not allowed and candles are useless against the high winds and blowing gypsum minerals. The best part about White Sands is the sunset. When the sky turns pink and the white dunes turn blue – it is almost impossible to know which way is up!” Excerpted from Green Wedding Shoes Blog, where it was recently featured.

Malia is wearing the very dreamy boho wedding 2-piece dress, the Alana and Fiona skirt. This is sold together, but is also offered as separates.

Malia you were a beautiful boho bride, and thank you for sharing your day with us.

We would love to hear your thoughts on the subject of eloping. Drop us a comment below.

The Eternal Romance Collection for the Relaxed Bohemian Bride

The Eternal Romance Collection for the Relaxed Bohemian Bride

Come ti vidi m’innamorai, e tu sorridi perché lo sai.

When I saw you, I fell in love, and you smiled because you knew.

Dreamers & Lovers have now been around three years, and with three collections now under our belt. They say the third time is the charm, and isn’t that the truth. The Eternal Romance collection is one entirely inspired by the women we design for, those that we meet in the studio daily, or chat with over the phone and emails. Someone asked me recently what is our secret sauce, and while I have many versions of what I think this sauce is, the truth is, it is the unique women who pour their hearts, desires, and dreams to us. They allow us to begin their fairytale. It is such a honor designing a wedding dress, to think that this dress will be worn on the most important day of their lives. The Eternal Romance collection is for you, inspired by you. Keep sharing those stories. We love hearing about that spark of passion, that ever-slight blush that rushes to your cheeks when you hear him speak, those butterflies when you kiss; the driving force behind holding hands, stolen glances, and giggling over a shared secret. It’s the reason you want to look beautiful on your wedding day.

Eternal Romance 6

Just in time for spring’s nuptials, the Eternal Romance bridal collection will have star-crossed lovers swooning. The collection features full silk skirts balanced with delicate features. Edwardian romantic chic comes to mind when one examines the thoughtfully cut designs and gracefully draped fabrics.

A mix of muted exquisite silks, soft tulle net, silk georgette and cotton embroidered lace structures the collection. We’ve incorporated exquisite floral patterned embroidered lace, as well as uniquely beautiful geometric-style embroidered patterns. The collection’s silhouettes range from form fitting to looser dreamy flowy fits, all promising to flatter the bride and designed for comfortable wear. We want brides wearing the Eternal Romance collection to feel like they’re walking on clouds- because that’s how true love should feel.

A Hippie Inspired Wedding in London

A Hippie Inspired Wedding in London

couple-photo-bride-wearing-hippie-wedding-dress

This wedding took place in London this past summer, and the lovely bride Laura wore the very bohemian dream-ers maxi lace dress with bell sleeves in white. Laura is a sweetheart and gave me access to the entire collection of the wedding photos. I chose to feature the ones showing the gorgeous couple. Although I did not include photos of the wedding guests and all the dancing and fun that were so tangible in the photos, it all came across very sweet, personal, fun and an overall relaxed vibe.

I was very intrigued by Laura’s description of her wedding:

“I started the process as reluctant bride, having not decided which category I wanted to fall in; Barbie bride, medieval bride or even American sweetheart bride! Once the date drew nearer I decided upon the 1970s hippy bride look, having fallen in love with Jenny’s dress when she married Forrest Gump many years ago!”

Forrest Gump for me was also a memorable movie, because in addition to crying my heart out, I was also in love with the intimate wedding captured in Forrest’s backyard. This movie did a number on me. I am sure if I watched the movie again, it would still pull at my heartstrings. Jenny, the bride in the movie, was a hippie at heart, and the dress she wore for her wedding was versatile, and one that could be translated today as a modern day dress for a free spirited bohemian/hippie bride.

Everything about Laura’s wedding is just perfect. It is amazing to me that she created exactly the wedding day she dreamt of. I am in love, and did I already say this?….hello gorgeous couple.

Laura, we are delighted you chose a dream-ers dress to channel your inner hippie. The why of everything she does just makes perfect sense. Case in point, one of the why behind the dress:

“Another pro of the loose fitting 1970s style, was it allowed me to scoff and guzzle wedding treats all day without worrying about an expanding waistline!”

And as she mentioned on her blog,

“The service was so fast from placing the order, to its arrival from America. As is the story of my life, it was purchased last minute and the creator of these perfect dresses couldn’t have been nicer to ensure the measurements were exactly right. It was a dream dress and the thrifty price tag made it even sweeter!”

Holly Hi RES 2

Hey you…our Holly is one of those dresses that just stops you in your tracks. It is nothing like you will see in any bridal shop. It is unmistakably for the laid-back bohemian bride. You know that bride, that marches to the beat of her own drum. She certainly doesn’t watch say yes to the dress. Her ideal bachelorette party is spent in a camp site with her five best girls, and almost certainly no veil involved.

I think bohemian brides are to be celebrated, because it is never easy zigging when all of your family and some of your friends want you to zag. It is impressive when a person is comfortable with being that they truly are, being different.  Case in point, the woman on the telephone just now, she had a special request. Her request was that if we could place a rush on her dress, she needs it in three weeks for her wedding.

We will call her Betsey, she has been with her guy for 8 years, and have lived together the last 5 years. They just decided to get married already. She is spontaneous and living in the now and needs this dress now. To me, this is the true anatomy of the modern chilled-out bride. She is not caged by traditions, or learned inclinations, she thinks with her heart. It is only natural; she is choosing the dress that she did – the Holly dress.

Off-shoulder-bohemian-crochet-lace-wedding-dress

A dress designed and brought to life with simplicity and effortless ease as the dominant characteristic, using breathtaking fabric as the backdrop, and to be assembled by hands, that is, hands that care for what they are doing, hands that know that this dress isn’t just a dress, that this is a dress that a bride will ultimately state her wedding vows in, and make a promise for today, tomorrow, and forever.

This is how we view a dress each time we make one; we know the importance and the significance of the dress. So whether you are a carefree boho bride, or a traditional bride who just happen to like the look of crochet dresses, the post was supposed to share with you our love for this dress, and hope that you too will love it.

As with all of our dresses, this is made in our studio in Los Angeles, made with one set of loving and caring hands. Our dresses are of a simpler aesthetic; we focus on the details that can only be captured with using human hands. We are aware that being an online only shop, the process of buying a ‘wedding dress’ can be scary, but we do have a genius home try-on program designed with you in mind.

I am a true free spirit at heart, as bohemian as one could be. The woman on the phone has captivated me, because I see a shadow of myself in the spontaneity she possesses. Cheers to all the bohemian brides who are effortlessly cool and enjoys the simpler things in life. We admire you, and raise our virtual glasses to you.
